The main tasks for NERC, in terms of the regulation of the
transport sector, is to adjust the maximum level of tariffs for
passenger transportation over local trains and passenger and vehicle
transportation with inland water transport across the Curonian Lagoon
(Klaipėda national sea port area) according to the Article 34 of the
Railway Transport code and the Article 30 of the Code on the Inland and
Water Transport.
NERC implementing the provision of Article 1 of the Law on
Prices stipulating that prices and tariffs shall be established having
estimated the indispensable costs, gradually prepared the methodology
for setting the maximum levels of tariffs for passenger transportation
with inland water transport.
Currently, the maximum level of tariffs is set for the joint-stock
company “Smiltynės perkėla”, covering passenger transportation with
ferries across the Curonian Lagoon and joint-stock company “Lietuvos
geležinkeliai”, covering passenger transportation over local trains.
