In 2018, the number of the
power plants using the renewable energy resources reached 2 387, among these 86.6
percent were the solar power plants, 4.1 – the hydro power plants, 7.0 – the
wind power plants. The biogas and biofuel power plants covered an insignificant
share in the market structure – 2.3 percent.
The quantity of electricity
produced in 2018 by using the renewable energy resources equaled 2 092 GWh: the
biggest quantity of electricity was produced in the wind power plants – 54.4
percent, and in the hydro power plants – 20.3 percent. The quantity of
electricity produced in the biofuel power plants and in the biogas power plants
constituted 21.4 percent, in the solar power plants – 3.8 percent.
In 2018, the installed capacity of the power plants
producing and supplying to the networks the energy produced from the renewable
energy resources reached 838 MW: the installed capacity of the solar power
plants was 72 MW, the wind power plants – 532 MW, the hydro power plants – 128
MW, the biofuel power plants – 68 MW, of the biogas power plants – 38 MW. The
biggest share in the market structure of the total installed capacity was held
by the wind power plants – 63.5 percent, the smallest – by the biogas power
plants (4.6 percent).

The production of energy from
the renewable energy resources is supported through the Public Service
Obligations (PSO). In 2018, this amount equaled Eur 84.4 million.
